The Benton Tigers completed a two-game sweep of the Ruston Bearcats in the second round of the non-select Division I playoffs Saturday at Benton.

The No. 5 seed Tigers won Game 2 11-5 after winning Game 1 10-0 Friday.

Benton (33-3) will host No. 20 Sulphur (20-18) in the quarterfinals. The Tors defeated No. 4 Haughton 4-2 Saturday, completing a sweep. Ruston, the No. 12 seed, closed its season 25-13.

At Benton, the game was tied at 3 through three innings. Benton, the designated visiting team, broke the tie with two runs in top of the fourth. The Tigers took complete control with four more in the fifth.

They added two more in the sixth for an 11-3 lead. The Bearcats scored two in the bottom of the seventh.

At Haughton, the Bucs had nine hits but had trouble turning them into runs. Haughton had at least one hit in every inning.

The Bucs stranded two runners in the sixth and seventh.

In the seventh, back-to-back one-out singles by Seth Breen and Christian Turner put runners on first and second with one out.

But Carter Wilson, who entered the game with one out, induced a flyout then got a strikeout to end the game.

Christian Turner and Seth Breen both went 2-for-4. Aubrey Ramsey had a double. Seth Jorstad, Maddox Williams, Drake Cooper and Parker Pressley had singles.

Jorstad went the distance. He allowed five hits, struck out four and walked one. Only one of the Tors’ runs were earned. Haughton had three errors.
