Airline High School Press Release
Jimmie Marvin Davis has been named head boys basketball at Airline.
Davis replaces Cedric Washington, who stepped down after two seasons. He is a former assistant coach at Airline.
With over 20 years of experience in education and basketball coaching, Davis has dedicated his life to developing student-athletes on and off the court.
A 1996 graduate of Quitman High School, Davis went on to earn his degree in Education from Louisiana Tech, laying the foundation for a successful career in teaching and coaching.
Davis began his journey at Lakeside Junior and Senior High School, where he served as the head girls coach.
Under his leadership, the program thrived, reaching the playoffs four out of five years.
His tenure included a quarterfinal playoff appearance, a regional final and two bi-district playoff runs, reflecting his strong ability to build competitive teams and mentor young athletes.
He later took the helm as head boys coach at Mansfield, where his impact was just as profound.
In his six years there, he led the team to the playoffs three times, claimed the District 1-2A championship in the 2016-17 season and was honored as the 1-2A District Coach of the Year.
His teams also finished as district runners-up in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
After that, Davis served as an assistant coach at Airline under Eddie Hamilton before accepting the position as boys head coach at Northwood.
Davis is known for his discipline, strategic approach, and ability to inspire young athletes to reach their potential and we are excited to welcome Coach Davis back to the Airline family!
