Families and fans may soon have the chance to watch local youth sports games live from anywhere, thanks to a new partnership approved this week by the Bossier City Council.
At its recent meeting on Wednesday September 10, 2025, the council introduced an ordinance allowing the city to partner with NBC SportsEngine, Inc. and authorizing Mayor Thomas H. Chandler to execute the agreement. The deal will bring cameras to the Tinsley Athletic Complex, enabling live-streamed coverage of games through a subscription service.
The arrangement comes at no cost to the city. Instead, Bossier City will receive a share of subscription revenues, giving the project both financial and community benefits. Subscribers—whether parents, relatives, or out-of-town supporters—will be able to tune in live to games at the facility.
District 4 Councilman Joel Girouard said the idea reflects years of conversations with residents who wanted better ways to watch their children’s games. “I’ve had constituents in Bossier who have kids that play baseball and they’ve talked about how they throw their phone on the fence and share it on Facebook to allow people to watch,” Girouard said. “This has been a big conversation over the years about baseball.”
The Tinsley Athletic Complex, located off Shed Road, has become one of Northwest Louisiana’s premier sports facilities since opening in 2015. The 80-acre site features ten baseball and softball fields, multipurpose practice areas, a playground, walking trails, and a stocked fishing pond. Over the years, it has hosted large-scale tournaments that draw teams from across the South, contributing significantly to sports tourism in Bossier Parish.
City leaders say the SportsEngine partnership will not only give families a new way to enjoy games but also expand Bossier City’s exposure by showcasing local athletes and facilities to a wider audience.
The ordinance is scheduled for a second reading and final vote later this month.
