Cross country: Annual Border Dash set for Saturday morning

The annual Border Dash meet is set for Saturday at the South Bossier Recreational Complex.

The high school division is hosted by Parkway and the middle school division by Elm Grove.

Parkway is the defending boys champion. Lafayette won the 2024 girls title. Parkway finished second.

Parkway’s Brennan Robin and Ben Ruliffson finished 1-2 in the boys division last year. Both are in this year’s field, per the entries list on Louisiana MileSplit.

West Ouachita’s Jack Kelley and Benton’s Brody Hutchison, who finished third and fourth, respectively, are also back.

Parkway’s Aiden O’Nishea and Noah Lafitte, who finished ninth and 13th, respectively, return along with 14th-place Dalton Bliss of Benton.

Defending girls champion Emma Bielkiewicz of West Ouachita is also back. Third-place finisher Claire Allen of Benton also returns.

Last year, 220 runners posted times and 17 teams posted scores in the boys division. In the girls division, 167 runners posted times and 16 teams posted scores.

Another large contingent of athletes and teams are competing Saturday.

The meet starts at 9 a.m. with the varsity high school girls 3-mile race. That will be followed by the boys at 9:40.

The 6th-grade boys and girls combined 1-mile races start at 10:10 followed by the middle school/junior high girls 1.5-mile race at 10:30 and the boys at 10:50.
