High school cross country: Benton boys win Benton High Classic; Benton girls runner-up

Benton won the boys division and finished second in the girls in the Benton High Classic Saturday.

Benton put four runners in the top 10 and scored 33 points in the boys division. Airline was second with 57 and Caddo Magnet third with 68.

Benton’s five runners in the scoring were Cooper Sims (4th), Samuel Ivins (5th), Dalton Bliss (9th), Bruce Warner (10th) and Elijah Hollifield (16th).

Benton scored 54 in the girls division. Byrd won with 29. Caddo Magnet was third with 74.

Airline’s Jayden Williams won the 3-mile boys race. He covered the 3-mile course in 15 minutes, 37 seconds.

Cedar Creek’s Luke Alexander was second in 16:12.50 and Caddo Magnet’s Jack Pattillo third in 16:40.80.

Airline’s John Austin Bonney finished sixth. 

Benton’s Claire Allen finished second in the girls race in 19:42.10. Byrd’s Emma Banker won in 19:32. Byrd’s Isabel Woodley was third in 19:42.40.

Benton’s other runners in the scoring were Aaliyah Gonzalez (5th), Maddox Cisneros (9th), Ellie Allen (15th) and Claire Power (43rd).

Haughton’s Clara Hicks and Alyssa Giddings finished sixth and 10th, respectively.

The District 1-5A meet is Oct. 28 at the South Bossier Recreational Complex.
