High school girls basketball: Providence Classical Academy wins Jimmy Stewart Memorial Tournament

The Providence Classical Academy Lady Knights won the Jimmy Stewart Memorial Tournament Saturday at Doyline.

PCA defeated Family Community 60-36 in the semifinals Saturday afternoon. A few hours later, the Lady Knights defeated Summerfield 47-36 in the championship game.

PCA (4-2) trailed 13-8 early in the second quarter. The Lady Knights rallied and led 23-19 at the half,

They increased the lead to 34-24 after three quarters. Summerfield got within 39-34 in the fourth but Caroline Cole scored to put the Lady Knights up by seven.

Ella Grace Richardson and Cole led PCA with both scoring in double figures. Alex Thaxton hit a 3-pointer and also had a big steal and layup. Claire Morris hit a 3-pointer.

PCA returns to action Tuesday against Converse Monday at home.
