The Airline Vikings and Bossier Bearkats won Thursday on the first day of the “Doc” Edwards Memorial Invitational.
Airline edged Union Parish 75-73 at Airline, and Bossier routed Junction City, Ark., 73-34 at Bossier.
The tournament is using a round robin format this year.
Kevin White poured in 38 points to lead Airline (8-3). Jusdan Gladney and Jerrius Rhodes added nine each. All of Rhodes’ points came on 3-pointers.
White scored 11 in the first quarter and Airline led 20-19. He added eight more in the second, but the Farmers outscored the Vikings 23-12 for a 42-32 halftime lead.
Airline cut the deficit to two after three quarters. White scored 11 in the fourth as the Vikings pulled out the win. He was 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Rhodes hit two big 3-pointers in the quarter and Gladney scored four.
Tayshawn Gipson and Tyaundra Gilbert led Union Parish with 25 and 20 points, respectively.
Ethan Dodson hit four 3-pointers and led nine Bossier (6-3) players who scored against Junction City with 14 points.
TJ Bunnery added 13. Jaden Davis and Braylon Robinson scored 11 each.
The tournament continues Friday. Bossier plays Airline at and Benton faces Union Parish at Bossier. Both games tip off at 7:30.
Cedar Creek plays Plain Dealing at Airline and Jonesboro-Hodge faces Magnolia School of Excellence at Bossier. Both games start at 3 p.m.
In the Brown Service Center Minden Holiday Classic, Haughton fell to undefeated Gibsland-Coleman 63-45.
James Alexander led the Bucs (7-6) with 14 points. Hayden Lippollis added nine.
