High school girls basketball: Haughton, Benton, Plain Dealing win

The Haughton Lady Bucs, Benton Lady Tigers and Plain Dealing Lady Lions were victorious Tuesday.

Haughton won two games in the second annual Tyler ISD Holiday Hoopfest in Tyler, Texas. The Lady Bucs defeated Mesquite 39-30 and Humble 31-28.

Haughton (14-5) went 4-0 over two days in the event and has won 12 in a row.

Benton defeated Pleasant Hill 64-60 in the St. Mary’s tournament in Natchitoches. The Lady Tigers also defeated Ebarb 50-44 Monday.

Plain Dealing downed Pickering 43-39 at Pickering.

Sariah Shannon led Haughton against Mesquite with 13 points. Skylar Branch and Bella Hammond scored 11 each.

Shannon and Hammond scored nine each against Humble. Branch chipped in seven.

At Natchitoches, Kryshna Bostic led Benton (11-8) against Pleasant Hill with 22 points. She also had seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Bella Wiese hit two 3-pointers and scored 17. She had six rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Cylah Grigsby had nine points and five rebounds. Elizabeth Perry had five rebounds.

Bostic scored 17 and had three assists against Ebarb. Wiese scored 13.

Grigsby had six points and four steals. Lainey Lafitte had nine rebounds and five steals along with four points.

At Pickering, Jakayla Douglas poured in 34 points to lead Plain Dealing (6-7). Sanaa Lyles scored six.
