High school girls basketball: Haughton reaches 20-win mark for fourth straight season with rout of Byrd

The Haughton Lady Bucs rolled past Byrd 49-10 Friday night at Haughton.

Haughton improved to 20-6 overall and 2-0 in District 1-5A. It’s the fourth straight season the Lady Bucs have won 20 or more games.

Haughton moved ito a second-place tie with Parkway (14-6, 2-0), a half game behind Airline (10-9, 3-0).

Bella Hammond and Skylar Branch led the Lady Bucs with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Sariah Shannon added eight.

Haughton pitched a shutout in the first half, taking a 33-0 lead.

Hammond hit two 3-pointers and scored 10 in the first quarter. Branch scored all of her points in the first half.

Byrd dropped to 11-15 and 0-3.

Haughton is scheduled to visit Airline in a big district game Tuesday.
