The Haughton Lady Bucs and Parkway Lady Panthers moved into a tie for first in District 1-5A with victories Friday night.
Haughton defeated Benton 47-26 at Haughton. Parkway downed Airline 53-42 at Parkway.
In another District 1-5A game, Natchitoches Central defeated Captain Shreve 55-50.
Haughton improved to 22-7 overall and 4-1 in district. Parkway improved to 17-7 and 4-1.
They are followed in the standings by Airline (11-11, 4-2), Natchitoches Central (18-7, 4-2), Huntington (14-7, 3-2) and Captain Shreve (16-10, 3-2).
In a District 1-4A game Friday, Bossier fell to Minden 46-43 at Minden.
In a District 1-1A game, Plain Dealing edged Jonesboro-Hodge 49-46 at Plain Dealing. In a District 1-B game, Providence Classical Academy defeated Castor 36-29 at Castor.
At Haughton, Bella Hammond and Skylar Branch led the Lady Bucs with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Bella Wiese scored six of her team-high 11 points in the first quarter and Benton led 13-12. Hammond knocked down two 3-pointers in the second quarter. The Lady Bucs limited the Lady Tigers to two points and led 22-15 at the half.
Haughton continued to pull away in the third quarter. Branch scored eight and Hammond five. The Lady Bucs led 37-23 going into the fourth.
Haughton visits Evangel Christian Monday. Benton (16-14, 1-4) hosts Parkway.
At Parkway, Airline led 22-18 at the half. Parkway opened the second half with a 9-0 run for a 27-22 lead.
The Lady Vikings cut the deficit to 29-27 with three minutes left in the third quarter. But the Lady Panthers closed the quarter with a 13-5 run and led 42-32.
Jasmyne Hendrix led Parkway with 14 points. Jasmine Brooks added 10.
Kenadie Loche and Khia Thomas scored nine each.
Hendrix hit two 3-pointers and scored 12 points during the big third quarter. Loche also hit two from behind the arc and scored eight.
Airline visits Magnolia School of Excellence Monday.
At Minden, Bossier led 40-35 midway through the fourth quarter but the Lady Tiders rallied for the victory.
Adrianna Gooden hit three 3-pointers in the first half and led the Lady Kats (8-10, 1-2) with 16 points. Orianna Edwards added 12.
Brooklyn Jefferson led Minden (15-11, 2-2) with 15 points. LeLe Johnson hit two big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored 10. Alexi Hatter added eight.
At Plain Dealing, Jakayla Douglas scored a career high 37 points to lead the Lady Lions (11-13, 2-1). She scored all 17 of the Lady Lions’ points in the first quarter and Plain Dealing led 17-8. She tallied eight in the second quarter and Plain Dealing led 29-22 at the half.
Jonesboro-Hodge got within three after three quarters. Jakayla Douglas scored six and Janiya Douglas four in the fourth quarter as Plain Dealing pulled out the win.
Jonesboro-Hodge dropped to 12-15 and 2-1.
Plain Dealing visits Cedar Creek Saturday.
At Castor, Alex Thaxton led seven Lady Knights (20-13, 4-0) who scored with 13 points. Adilynn DeLoach chipped in 10.
PCA hosts Buckeye Monday.
