High school soccer: Benton girls, Bossier boys aim for quarterfinal berths

The Benton Lady Tigers and Bossier Bearkats host second-round playoff games Wednesday.

The No. 5 seed Lady Tigers (20-4) play No. 12 St. Amant (14-4-3) in a Division I girls game at 6 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. Benton defeated St. Amant 2-0 in the St. Michael tournament Dec. 13.

The No. 8 Bearkats face No. 9 Morgan City (12-5-2) in a Division III boys game at 5:30 at Memorial Stadium.

Benton defeated No. 28 Ponchatoula 8-0 in the first round last week. St. Amant defeated No. 21 Live Oak 6-0.

The Lady Tigers are looking for their second straight quarterfinal appearance.

Benton and St. Amant were both eliminated by Lafayette last year. The Lady Tigers fell 2-0 in the quarterfinals and the Lady Gators lost 3-1 in the second round.

St. Amant finished runner-up to Denham Springs in District 5. Benton was runner-up in District 1.

Bossier defeated No. 25 DeRidder 5-1 in the first round. Morgan City defeated No. 24 South Beauregard 3-0.

The Bearkats are looking for their seventh straight quarterfinal appearance. Bossier reached the semifinals in 2025, 2024 and 2022 and the finals in 2023.

The Tigers lost to eventual champion University Lab 5-2 in the second round last year.
