The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers snapped an 11-game losing streak Saturday afternoon with a 78-66 victory over the Coastal Bend College Cougars, delivering a long-awaited win in front of their home crowd.

BPCC (9-13 overall, 3-11 in conference) controlled the tempo from the opening tip, jumping out to an early advantage and carrying a 37-29 lead into halftime. As they have done throughout the season, the Cavaliers established themselves early with defensive intensity and balanced scoring.

But this time, the second half felt different. Coming out of the locker room, there was a noticeable shift in energy inside the gymnasium. The Cavaliers maintained their lead possession after possession, securing their first victory in nine weeks. The last time BPCC celebrated a win came Dec. 9, 2025, when the Cavaliers edged Navarro College Bulldogs by one point in front of the home crowd.

“I’m really proud of our team,” Head Coach Jeff Moore said. “They have continued to work every day through a tough stretch and were able to put together a solid 40-minute game. We shared the ball, rebounded well and limited mistakes to get the win.”

BPCC’s balanced attack was evident across the stat sheet. Drew Cooper led the way with 20 points and 12 rebounds for a dominant double-double performance in the paint. Zequan Lewis matched him with 20 points, knocking down five shots from beyond the arc to stretch the defense. Tony Montgomery added 13 points while orchestrating the offense with nine assists and disrupting passing lanes with four steals. Dustin Welch anchored the interior with 10 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks, helping the Cavaliers control the glass on both ends.

Saturday’s win was significant in the standings, but what followed the final buzzer meant even more. After a brief huddle at center court, the Cavaliers made their way to the bleachers to personally thank fans for their continued support through a challenging stretch. Players moved through the crowd exchanging handshakes, hugs and congratulatory words, sharing smiles with the same supporters who have remained loyal throughout the season.
