The Benton Lady Tigers will be looking for a spot in the non-select Division I semifinals Monday.
Benton (21-4), the No. 5 seed, hosts No. 13 Northshore (16-6-4) in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
The No. 8 seed Bossier Bearkats (11-7-3) will be looking to advance to the semifinals in Division III boys for the fifth straight year Tuesday. They travel to Baton Rouge for a quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 seed and defending champion University Lab (17-3-2) at 3:30.
The Lady Tigers are looking to go at least one step farther than last season when they fell to Lafayette 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
Benton defeated No. 28 Ponchatoula 8-0 in the first round and No. 12 St. Amant 3-1 in the second. Northshore defeated No. 20 Dutchtown 5-0 in the first round and upset No. 4 Denham Springs 2-1 in the second.
Northshore finished third in District 6 behind champion Mandeville and runner-up Fontainebleau. Mandeville, the No. 6 seed, and No. 14 Fontainebleau both lost 1-0 games in the second round to No. 11 Barbe and No. 3 Dominican, respectively.
The Lady Panthers have won six in a row. They have allowed only goal during that stretch.
Northshore reached the quarterfinals last year, falling to eventual champion Mt. Carmel 1-0.
Benton has won five in a row and eight of its last nine. The Lady Tigers’ only loss during that stretch was to Byrd 3-1 in a game that decided the District 1 championship.
Bossier and University are familiar foes. The Cubs defeated the Bearkats 3-0 Nov. 22 in the Loyola tournament and by the same score in the semifinals last year.
They also defeated Bossier 3-0 in the 2021 quarterfinals, the last time the Bearkats failed to reach the semifinals.
