The Benton Lady Tigers and Haughton Lady Bucs opened District 1-5A play with victories Tuesday.
Defending champion Benton defeated Huntington 20-0 at Huntington, and Haughton downed Captain Shreve 10-0 at Haughton,
In another 1-5A opener, Airline fell to Natchitoches Central 6-1 in Natchitoches.
In a District 1-1A opener, Plain Dealing defeated Haynesville 19-15 at Haynesville.
At Huntington, Olivia Livers went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in the three-inning game.
Emma Holmes went 2-for-3 with a triple. Callie Turner went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Juju Vincent went 2-for-3 with a double.
Madison Lodatto went 2-for-3. Bayleigh Moniz, I Jones and Lainey Lafitte all had doubles. Moniz and Jones combined on a no-hitter. Moniz struck out five in two innings.
Benton (4-9) hosts Haughton Thursday at 6. Huntington dropped to 2-4.
At Haughton, Kallie Sanderlin pitched a two-hitter in the six-inning game. She struck out 10 and walked one.
Reese Mayfield went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBi. Presley Yerby went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.
Charlee Prothro and Avery Smith had two hits each. Reese Cunningham had a double.
Haughton improved to 7-8. Captain Shreve dropped to 5-8.
At Natchitoches Central, the Lady Vikings had only two hits. Ainsley Hollis hit a home run in the seventh. Taylor Smith struck out eight in six innings.
Airline (5-4) hosts Huntington Thursday at 5.
At Haynesville, Sanaa Lyles went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and four RBI. Zakira Lewis went 3-for-3 with a double. Neveah Fisk went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Ryelin West, Alainah Brooks and Brianna Newton had two hits apiece. Kylie Welch had three RBi.
Plain Dealing (7-0) visits Mansfield Monday. Haynesville dropped to 1-4.
