Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), a state program which works with local non-
profits and governments to support local communities through programs and resources for litter
prevention, education, removal, enforcement, recycling, waste reduction and sustainability initiatives,
has chosen Keep Bossier Beautiful (KBB) to receive a Healthy Communities Grant to support their litter
prevention and waste management practices. KLB has awarded the $5,850 grant to help expand efforts
to reduce roadside litter across Bossier Parish.
“This grant award represents an active partnership with KLB that will help us uphold our responsibility
to do the right thing for the environment and community regarding litter prevention,” KBB Executive
Director Lynn Bryan said. “Litter prevention requires constant visibility and community partnership,”
Bryan added. “This grant allows us to amplify KLB’s Put the Brakes on Litter message through trusted
local media and community partners while reminding residents that keeping trash inside their vehicles
is one of the easiest ways to protect our community.”
KLB Executive Director, Susan Russell explains that the Healthy Communities Grant is designed to
provide funding for local projects and programs bringing about behavioral changes needed to improve
the appearance of communities in Louisiana. “Projects focus on litter removal, litter prevention
education and practices, waste management and reduction, recycling, reusing, and refusing, litter
enforcement and other related efforts. KLB seeks projects that have diverse community support,
volunteer involvement, collaboration with stakeholders and benefit the community at large.”
Made possible with funding from the State of Louisiana and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, 20
Healthy Community Grants totaling over $174,000 were awarded to eligible organizations including
Louisiana parishes, municipalities, state agencies, governmental entities, political subdivisions, schools,
colleges, universities, non-profit organizations, and KLB Affiliates.
