High school baseball: Parkway downs Natchitoches Central; Benton, PCA, Plain Dealing win

The Parkway Panthers defeated Natchitoches Central 10-3 in the first of a two-game District 1-5A series Monday in Natchitoches.

Elsewhere, Benton routed Grace Christian 19-0 in Alexandria and Providence Classical Academy downed North Caddo 6-3 in Vivian.

Plain Dealing split a doubleheader at Huntington. The Raiders won the first game 7-6 and the Lions took the second 7-5.

At Natchitoches Central, Parkway had 10 hits. Dallas Loche went 3-for-4 with a double. Hunter Schneider went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Jax Thomson had a triple and three RBI. Brady Prine had two RBI. Peyton Rayner had a double.

Zach Plunkett went 4 1/3 innings for the win. He scattered five hits, struck out four and walked three. Corey Paeth pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He didn’t give up a hit, struck out one and walked two.

Parkway (12-16, 3-9) and Natchitoches Central (19-11, 7-5) are scheduled to complete the series Tuesday at Parkway at 6.

At Grace Christian, Cole Snell had a home run, double and two RBI in the three-inning game. Hayden Millen went went 2-for-2. Tate Underwood had three RBI. Brandon McCarthy had two.

Underwood pitched three perfect innings.

Benton (26-3-2) visits Airline Tuesday at 6 in the second of a two-game District 1-5A series. Grace Christian dropped to 25-3.

At North Caddo, Joe Barrish went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Benton Axton, starting pitcher Kellen Beale and David Mobley had two hits apiece.

Beale struck out four and walked two in 5 2/3 innings. Barrish didn’t give up a hit in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

PCA (8-15) visits Castor Tuesday at 5. North Caddo dropped to 10-15.

At Huntington, Brandon Arnold went 3-for-4 with a double in the first game. Ja’marion Baker Shepard went 2-for-4.

Bo Bailey had a double and two RBI. Colton Smith had a double. Ethan Cross drew three walks.

Plain Dealing took advantage of 11 walks and some errors in the second game.

Baker-Shepard drew three walks. Arnold allowed three hits, struck out seven and walked none in four innings.

Plain Dealing (10-11) hosts Arcadia Wednesday at 5. Huntington is 8-15.
