Three Plain Dealing athletes won titles in the District 1-1A meet Thursday at Lakeside.
Brianna Newton won the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 7 inches. Jonesboro-Hodge’s Jelenya Jackson was a distant second with a 29-9.5.
Newton also finished second in check discus with a 100-5. Haynesville’s Arieanna Penegar won with a 102-3.
Jakayla Douglas won the girls javelin with a throw of 94-5. Haynesville’s Azaria Johnson was second with a 91-8.
Douglas also finished third in the high jump with a leap of 5-6. Glenbrook’s Ila Downer won with a 4-8.
Jeremy Fisher won the boys shot put with a 42-3.75. Lincoln Prep’s Ryan Randolph was second with a 41-6.
Fisher also finished third in the discus with a 106-2. Haynesville’s Kingston French won with a 110-4.
All of the above athletes qualified for Tuesday’s Region I-1A meet which will also be held at Lakeside.
Haynesville swept the team titles.
The Tors won the boys division with 154 points. Cedar Creek was second with 112 followed by Ringgold with 79, Jonesboro-Hodge with 67, Arcadia with 48 and Glenbrook with 40.
The Lady Tors scored 140 points. Jonesboro-Hodge was second with 129 followed by Cedar Creek with 114, Plain Dealing with 36 and Glenbrook with 34.
