The LHSAA State Championships tournaments begin Monday in Lafayette with four players from parish schools competing.

Airline’s Hudson Greene is competing in the Division I boys tournament at The Wetlands. Greene, who won the District 1-5A tournament and finished third in the Region I, Division I tournament, tees off at 9 a.m.

Benton is the two-time defending champion in the girls tournament, which is being held at Le Triomphe.

Grace Goodwin, the runner-up in last year’s rain-shortened tournament, tees off at 8:24 a.m. She and Abigail McWilliams combined to win the team title the last two years. McWilliams is now a freshman player at Tyler Junior College.

Goodwin’s teammates this year are Charleigh Gillum and Amelia McDonald. Gillum tees off at 8:33 and McDonald at 8:42.

Maci Williams of Brusly is back to defend her title.

Both 36-hole tournaments are scheduled to conclude Tuesday. Last year, they were shortened to 27 holes because of rain.
