The two-time defending Bossier Phillies stayed alive in the American Legion Baseball mid-South Regional with a 6-0 victory over Bryant, Ark., Saturday in Gastonia, N.C.
Bossier is one of three teams left in the six-team tournament. The Phillies face the loser of a 3:30 p.m. game between Daphn, Ala., and Tupelo, Miss., Saturday in another elimination game. The game will follow the Daphne-Tupelo game.
Bossier avenged a 5-1 loss to Bryant in the first round Thursday.
Benton standout Slade Stephens pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks.
Former Northwood standout Landon Martin went 2-for-3 with a double. Northwood rising senior Nate Cervantes went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Former Benton stars Cole Snell, Brody Turnipseed, Griffin Sibley and Kade Bryant all had singles. Former Glenbrook star Jackson Waller and former Evangel Christian standout also had one hit each.
The game was scoreless through three innings. Cervantes broke the tie with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth.
