The Bossier City Council recognized local animal advocates Tuesday, Aug. 18, for their continued efforts to help animals in need throughout the community.
During its regular meeting, the council honored the team at Bossier City Animal Control and Services, along with representatives from Nina’s Road to Rescue and Megan Daniel with Rockers Rescue.
The groups were recognized for their work helping animals receive care, find safe placements and, when possible, receive a second chance through adoption and rescue efforts.
The animal advocates were also recognized for accomplishments at the Best Friends Animal Society Annual Conference, where their commitment to improving the lives of animals was highlighted.
Their work reflects the growing partnership between municipal animal services, rescue organizations, volunteers and members of the community. Together, those efforts help provide resources and opportunities for animals that might otherwise have limited options.
Bossier City Animal Control and Services works to care for animals that come into its facility, while local rescue organizations and volunteers help provide additional support through fostering, adoption and other services.
The recognition also highlighted the importance of community involvement in animal welfare. Rescue organizations often rely on volunteers, foster families, donations and adopters to continue their work.
The council’s recognition served as a reminder of the people working behind the scenes to improve the lives of animals throughout Bossier City.
Through the combined efforts of animal control staff, rescue groups and volunteers, the community continues to move forward in finding solutions for animals in need and helping give them another chance.
