Judge Doug Stinson has been unanimously selected by his fellow judges to serve as Chief Judge of the Twenty-Sixth Judicial District Court, effective Aug. 5, 2026.

As Chief Judge, Stinson will oversee the administration of the court while continuing to preside over his regular caseload.

Stinson currently serves as judge for Division D of the Twenty-Sixth Judicial District Court, which serves both Bossier and Webster parishes. The court is a state court of general jurisdiction, with its judges handling civil, criminal and juvenile matters.

Stinson was first elected to the bench in March 2022 and was sworn into office on April 18, 2022. He was recently re-elected without opposition on Aug. 7 to serve another six-year term.

Before becoming a judge, Stinson built a career in both public service and private practice. He served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bossier Parish for nearly 10 years while also maintaining a civil law practice.

His previous experience also includes serving as attorney for the Town of Benton and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office.

A graduate of Louisiana State University, Stinson received his undergraduate degree from LSU in Baton Rouge in 2004 before earning his law degree from LSU Law School in 2008.

He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Louisiana District Judges Association, Bossier Bar Association, Shreveport Bar Association and Louisiana State Bar Association.

As Chief Judge, Stinson will take on the additional responsibility of helping oversee the administration and operation of the Twenty-Sixth Judicial District Court while continuing his work from the bench serving the residents of Bossier and Webster parishes.
