LSU Shreveport set a second straight summer graduation record with more than 1,622 college degrees conferred, besting its previous mark by about 70 graduates.
The University will ceremoniously award those degrees Friday at two summer graduation ceremonies at Brookshire Grocery Arena.
LSUS graduates more students in their summer semester than any other university in the state thanks to its accelerated graduate degree programs, which occur in year-round sessions of seven weeks.
About 1,550 graduates earned master degrees with Master of Business Administration (904 graduates), the Master of Health Administration (337), and the Master of Education (214) leading the way.
Fifty-six students obtained bachelor’s degrees with business (31) and general studies (20) accruing the most graduates.
Local author and publisher Crystal Gantt, who graduated with her MBA from LSUS in 2016, will deliver the keynote address.
No tickets are required to attend the event, and graduates can invite as many guests as they would like to the 14,000-seat arena. Parking is free.
The ADA entrance is located on the north side of the building, which includes a wheelchair accessible ramp. Parking lot A is reserved for handicapped guests.
The ceremonies, which begin at 10 a.m. and two 2 p.m., will be livestreamed through the LSUS YouTube channel.

LSUS summer graduates hail from 51 U.S. states/territories and 31 countries.
Louisiana (358 graduates) leads the way in total number of graduates with Texas (206), Florida (141), California (115) and Georgia (100). Virginia, New York, New Jersey and Illinois all logged at least 40 graduates.
The Northern Mariana Islands, a self-governing commonwealth of the U.S. that sits north of Guam in the western Pacific Ocean, checks in with a summer graduate.
International students represent 31 countries outside the United States, covering territory like Bermuda, Cameroon, China, France, Haiti, Nicaragua, Saudia Arabia, and Ukraine to name a few.
