The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to congratulate Deputy Colton Hunter, School Resource Officer at Stockwell Place Elementary, on receiving the Star of Valor Award for his heroic actions in helping save a student’s life.
On September 1, Deputy Hunter was making his rounds through the school cafeteria when he noticed several teachers gathered around a student who was choking. After quickly assessing the situation, Deputy Hunter determined the student was unable to breathe and immediately performed the Heimlich Maneuver, successfully dislodging the obstruction.
After the incident, Deputy Hunter made it a priority to follow up with the student’s parent and check on the child’s well-being.
Sheriff Whittington said, “Deputy Hunter’s quick response and willingness to act when a student was in danger are a great example of the dedication our School Resource Officers bring to their schools every day. We are proud of the way he stepped forward, used his training and made a difference when it mattered most.”
Deputy Hunter was also the recipient of the 2025 Bossier Parish Schools Gold Star Award, another recognition of his commitment to the students he serves.
