The Bossier Phillies are one win away from their second straight American Legion Baseball state title.
Bossier defeated the Jesuit-based Retif Oilers 9-0 Tuesday night to improve to 4-0 in the double-elimination tournament. The Phillies face the Southland Hogs-Red Wednesday in the championship round.
Southland eliminated Crowley 2-1 Tuesday. Bossier defeated Southland 11-4 Monday. The Hogs will have to defeat Bossier twice to win the title.
Former Benton star Kade Bryant, who will be a freshman at Northwestern State, pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts and five walks.
Bossier scored one run in each of the first three innings. Benton rising senior Cole Snell, who recently committed to LSU Eunice, made it 6-0 with a three-run home run with one out in the fourth.
The Phillies made it 9-0 with three more in the sixth.
Snell was 2-for-2 and walked twice. He had a double in addition to his homer and finished with four RBI.
Ty Boozer, a former Pleasant Grove, Texas, standout, also went 2-for-2 and walked twice.
Former Natchitoches Central star Brock Laird went 2-for-4 with a solo home run,
Also getting hits were Hudson Brignac, Easton Sanders, Abel Thetford and Britian Pipes. Sanders drew a pair of walks. He and Thetford had one RBI each.
