The Bossier Phillies completed a dominant run through the American Legion state tournament with a 6-0 victory over the Houma-based Southland Hogs-Red Wednesday in New Orleans.
Bossier went 5-0 in the double-elimination tournament, winning for the second straight year. The Phillies won all five games by at least six runs, outscoring their opponents 49-8.
The Phillies now will try to defend their Mid-South Regional title Aug. 6-10 in Washington, Mo.
BPCC’s Brody Bower, a former Minden star, pitched a complete game. He allowed five hits, struck out eight and walked none.
The Phillies scored two runs in the first, third and fifth innings.
Northwestern State’s Hudson Brignac, a former Benton star, went 2-for-2 and was hit by a pitch.
Former Natchitoches Central standout Dillon Braxton went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Another former Chief, Brock Laird, had three RBI. His two-run double gave Bossier with two outs in the third gave the Phillies a 4-0 lead.
Former Glenbrook standout Easton Sanders had an RBI-double to put the Phillies up 5-0 in the fifth.
Kam Wrightner also had a hit.
