Barksdale Air Force Base invites community members to an Air Installations Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) Open House on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bossier Parish Central Library (7204 Hutchison Dr., Bossier City, LA 71111).

The AICUZ Program aims to protect the health and safety of those living near military airfields while supporting the Air Force mission. It provides land use guidelines for areas affected by aircraft noise and flight operations.

Col Michael Maginness, 2d Bomb Wing commander, will deliver opening remarks at the event.

The most recent AICUZ Study for Barksdale AFB was completed in 2008, and since then there have been a lot of changes in land use and population growth. The study offers recommendations to help local communities plan development that’s compatible with ongoing Air Force operations.

The open house will include informational displays and Air Force staff on hand to answer questions. All are welcome to attend and learn more about how the base and local communities can work together to promote safe and sustainable relationships.
