“Shreveport Aquarium is a great resource for ocean education and conservation,” says Josh Evans, General Manager. “It is our goal to introduce people of all ages to the wonders of aquatic life to spark compassion and curiosity for conservation and sustainability. Campers are not only going to have a blast in our program, but they are going to learn about things they can do that will have a positive impact on our planet and will be empowered to work toward building a more sustainable future.”
Camp Aqua offers a variety of exciting themes designed to captivate young minds and foster a love for marine biology and conservation. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the adventures awaiting campers this summer:
Hungry, Hungry Predators: Unleash the Beast Within
- Dates: June 3 – 7, June 10-14
- Time: 9 a.m. – Noon (Half-day), 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Full-day)
- Dive into the world of nature’s most formidable hunters as campers discover the amazing ways predators find and capture their prey through hands-on dissections, crafts, and games.
Shark Squad: Embrace the Fin-tastic World
- Dates: June 17 – 21, June 24 – 28
- Time: 9 a.m. – Noon (Half-day), 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Full-day)
- Become an expert on the ocean’s most fierce apex predators, SHARKS! Explore their unique characteristics and pivotal role in the marine ecosystem through engaging experiments and interactive challenges.
Habitat Heroes: Guardians of the Wild
- Dates: July 8 – 12
- Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Full-day)
- Dive into vibrant underwater worlds and uncover the critical importance of diverse habitats. Campers will create habitats for Shreveport Aquarium animals, becoming guardians of the wild.
Camp sessions are tailored to different age groups and offer both half-day and full-day options. Half-day camps are available for 4 – 7 year olds from 9 a.m. to noon, priced at $150, while full-day camps cater to 6 – 11 year olds from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., priced at $250. Each camp includes a t-shirt and snack.
Families with multiple children or aquarium members can enjoy discounts, and early bird sign-ups before April 1 receive a $15 discount.
