A friendly rivalry between the Shreveport and Bossier fire departments will take on a life-saving purpose Monday, Sept. 28, when firefighters and community members come together for LifeShare Blood Center’s Battle of the Bravest 2026.
The two departments will go head-to-head in a competition to see which team can rally the most blood donors from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Donors can choose to support Team Shreveport or Team Bossier when they give blood, with the department receiving the most donations earning bragging rights and the Battle of the Bravest championship belt.
While the competition is designed to bring out some friendly firehouse rivalry, the larger goal is to help ensure blood is available for patients who need it.
Firefighters routinely respond when members of the community need help. During Battle of the Bravest, they are asking residents to return the favor by joining their team and donating blood.
The competition also gives firefighters an opportunity to involve their families, fellow first responders, coworkers and community members in a cause that can directly help local patients.
Blood donations are an important part of emergency and medical care, and community blood drives help maintain the supply needed for patients throughout the region.
The Battle of the Bravest will take place at two LifeShare Blood Center locations:

Bossier City
The competition will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28.
For the firefighters participating, the day will be about more than determining which department gets to claim the championship belt. It will be another opportunity to serve the community and encourage residents to take part in a potentially life-saving effort.
Whether donors choose Shreveport or Bossier, organizers say the real winner will be the community and the patients whose lives may depend on donated blood.
