Bossier Arts Council Remains Active and Committed to Community Following Location Transition

The Bossier Arts Council (BAC) confirms that it will be vacating its
longtime home in the Old Municipal Building following a recent decision by the City of Bossier, a development
widely reported by local media over the past several weeks. While this marks a significant transition for the
organization, BAC wants the community to know: we are still here, still creating, and still serving Bossier.

For more than 45 years, the Bossier Arts Council has been a cornerstone of arts and culture in our region,
providing free and low-cost programming, exhibitions, educational opportunities, and community events that make
the arts accessible to people of all ages. Although we are currently without a permanent home, our mission
continues without interruption.

“Our address may be changing, but our purpose is not,” BAC leadership shared. “The arts do not live in a
building — they live in people, creativity, and community.”

Recent news coverage has detailed the City’s decision to terminate its cooperative agreement with BAC,
resulting in the organization’s eviction from the East Bank District facility. BAC acknowledges the seriousness of
the situation and is actively reorganizing and restructuring while finalizing plans for a new home that will allow
programming to move forward in a sustainable and compliant way.

Financial Compliance and Leadership Transition

In light of recent developments, the BAC wishes to address the lapse in financial audit submissions. Once
the issue was identified, the new leadership acted swiftly to rectify the situation. Proper documentation has now
been submitted to ensure compliance with the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s requirements. All other financial
federal and state documents were reported timely and the Bossier Arts Council is in good standing with those
respective agencies.

We are pleased to announce that the new board leadership has identified a new Executive Director and will
be introduced to the community shortly. This proactive approach will strengthen our operations and enhance our
ability to serve the Bossier community effectively.

Programming Continues

Despite the transition, BAC’s current programming remains active, with events continuing through
partnerships, popup locations, and alternative venues. Patrons, artists, educators, and supporters are encouraged to
visit the Bossier Arts Council Facebook page for the most up-to-date information regarding scheduled events,
programs, and opportunities to engage.

BAC has also been deeply encouraged by the overwhelming support received from artists, patrons,
families, educators, and local businesses in recent months. Community members have attended city meetings,
signed petitions, shared messages of encouragement, and stepped forward to help — a clear reminder of how vital
the arts are to Bossier City.

How the Community Can Help

As the organization navigates this period of transition, community support is more important than ever.
Donations made to the Bossier Arts Council directly support free community activities, youth programming,
artist opportunities, and outreach efforts, helping ensure these programs remain accessible to our local Bossier
community during and beyond this transition.

Those wishing to support BAC financially can find donation information on BAC’s official social media
channels. Every contribution — large or small — helps keep the arts alive and accessible in Bossier.

Looking Ahead

The Bossier Arts Council remains optimistic about the future. This moment, while challenging, is also an
opportunity to rebuild stronger, more resilient operations and continue serving the community with transparency,
creativity, and purpose.

“We are grateful for the trust our community places in us,” BAC leadership said. “This is not the end of
the Bossier Arts Council. It is a turning point — and we are moving forward together.”
