Women from across Bossier City and the surrounding region gathered Tuesday morning for the second annual Women’s Leadership Conference hosted by the Bossier Chamber of Commerce at the Live! Casino & Hotel Event Center.

The half-day conference, presented by CHRISTUS Health, brought together professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders for a morning focused on growth, leadership and connection. The event featured keynote speakers, interactive workshops and networking opportunities designed to empower women in business, family and community roles.

Attendees heard keynote presentations from Melvina A. Smith, a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and founder of The Mel Perspective LLC, and Courtney Kunau-Davis, an entrepreneur and mindset and wellness mentor.

Smith shared insights drawn from her military career and leadership experience, encouraging attendees to embrace resilience and purpose-driven leadership. Kunau-Davis focused on the importance of mindset, balance and personal growth, offering practical strategies for navigating both professional and personal challenges.

The conference began at 8 a.m. and featured a full agenda of sessions aimed at equipping women with tools to succeed across multiple areas of life. Topics ranged from leadership development and career advancement to wellness and work-life balance.

Organizers said the event reflects the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to supporting and elevating women in the region. By creating a space for collaboration and learning, the conference continues to grow as a key opportunity for women to connect and build lasting professional relationships.

Participants also had the chance to network with peers and local leaders, strengthening connections within the Bossier business community.

“At the Bossier Chamber, we are so grateful that we are able to hold this event for the incredible women professionals in the Bossier-Shreveport community,” said Lisa Johnson, President/CEO of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a way for us to give back and provide an opportunity for the women in our area to grow both professionally and personally.”

As the conference concluded, attendees left with not only practical takeaways but also renewed motivation to lead and make an impact in their workplaces and communities.

With continued support from sponsors and community partners, the Women’s Leadership Conference is expected to remain a cornerstone event for empowering women across Northwest Louisiana.
