Bossier City proudly joined the nation in honoring the 250th birthday of the United States Army with a special celebration held on Friday, June 13, at City Hall. Mayor Tommy Chandler led the tribute by presenting an official proclamation recognizing the historic milestone and the Army’s enduring legacy of service, patriotism, and protection.

The event took place at 1:30 p.m. in the Bossier City Hall conference room, where city officials, veterans, and members of the community gathered to pay tribute to the men and women who have proudly served in the Army over the past two and a half centuries.

“Today, we celebrate not only the founding of the U.S. Army but also the values it has upheld for 250 years—honor, allegiance, and unwavering commitment to protecting our freedoms,” said Mayor Chandler during the proclamation ceremony. “Bossier City is home to many military families and veterans, and we are proud to stand with them in gratitude.”

The celebration included a festive atmosphere and a patriotic-themed birthday cake, shared among attendees in honor of the Army’s special day. The event served as both a tribute and a reminder of the deep military roots woven into the fabric of the Bossier community, located just minutes from Barksdale Air Force Base.

Mayor Chandler emphasized the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by those who serve, noting that events like this allow the community to reflect on the Army’s role in shaping and defending the nation throughout history.

The U.S. Army, established on June 14, 1775, is the oldest branch of the United States Armed Forces. Its 250th birthday represents a remarkable milestone in American history, marking two and a half centuries of defense and dedication.

Bossier City’s participation in the celebration reflected its ongoing support for the military and its veterans. As the community gathered to wish the Army a happy birthday, the event underscored the city’s pride in its close ties to America’s armed forces.
