The Republican Women of Bossier hosted Bossier City Marshal candidates Jim Whitman and Brian Hammons Tuesday, Sept. 22, giving attendees an opportunity to meet the candidates and learn more about their experience.
The meeting was held at Silver Star Smokehouse in Bossier City. A meet-and-greet began at 5:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 6 p.m.
Whitman, the current Bossier City marshal, and Hammons, a Bossier City councilman, are seeking the marshal’s position.
Whitman has served as Bossier City marshal since 2015. He previously worked in law enforcement and had 12 years of prior law enforcement experience before becoming marshal, according to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s 2024 City Marshal and City Constable Directory.
As marshal, Whitman oversees an office that serves Bossier City Court and handles court-related duties within the city.
Hammons currently represents District 1 on the Bossier City Council. He brings experience in local government and has also served with the Bossier City Police Department Reserve Unit.
The meeting gave members and guests an opportunity to hear from both candidates and learn more about their backgrounds and experience as they seek the marshal’s position.
The Bossier City Marshal’s Office has a long history in the community and works closely with the city’s municipal court and other local agencies.
The Republican Women of Bossier regularly hosts meetings featuring local and state officials and provides opportunities for members and guests to hear from public officials and candidates.
Tuesday’s meeting focused on the Bossier City marshal’s race and gave attendees an opportunity to meet Whitman and Hammons ahead of the election.
