Police Department Recruitment Success
Over the past month, the Bossier City Police Department has been actively recruiting for positions in its Jail and Patrol divisions. Utilizing job fairs, TV, radio, social media, and local outlets like the Bossier Parish Tribune, the department achieved remarkable results.
Police Chief Daniel Haugen extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped spread the word and especially to the applicants. “I’m excited to begin the hiring process and welcome new officers to the best police department in Louisiana,” said Chief Haugen.
Fire Department Welcomes New Recruits
In a related public safety achievement, the Bossier City Fire Department congratulated its newest firefighters, reinforcing the city’s commitment to keeping residents safe.
Completion of Waterline Project to Port of Caddo-Bossier
A major milestone was celebrated this week with the completion of the waterline project linking Bossier City to the Port of Caddo-Bossier. The $20 million infrastructure initiative provides a vital secondary water source to the port’s industries, ensuring their operational needs are met.
The event, held at the LSU Agriculture Center on Highway 71, featured speeches from Mayor Tommy Chandler, City Councilman David Montgomery, and Port Executive Director Eric Englund. Stakeholders praised the collaboration that made the project a reality. Councilman Montgomery and Port Commissioner Walter O. Bigby Jr., the project’s visionaries, emphasized the benefits of cooperative efforts.
State of the Community Address
The Bossier City Chamber of Commerce hosted its Annual State of the Community address, with Chamber President Lisa Johnson highlighting the city’s progress in fostering a business-friendly environment. Johnson reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to supporting both new and existing businesses to ensure continued growth.
Mayor’s Prayer Lunch
On Tuesday, Mayor Chandler hosted the monthly Mayor’s Prayer Lunch, featuring a message from Pastor Justin Haigler of The Simple Church. Known for his inspiring messages, Pastor Haigler delivered a talk filled with encouragement and spiritual guidance.
Mayor Chandler expressed his gratitude for the monthly event, saying, “I look forward to this day every month, as prayer gives me the strength and direction I need each day.”
City Budget and Employee Raises
The Bossier City Council is currently reviewing the proposed city budget. One of the key highlights is a well-deserved pay raise for city employees, set to take effect in January upon the budget’s approval.
