This week, the City of Bossier took time to honor the memory of former Public Information Officer Traci Ponder. Mayor Tommy Chandler reflected on her contributions, stating, “Traci Ponder served the City of Bossier well and was a source of light for all those around her.” As the Thanksgiving season unfolds, Mayor Chandler extended warm holiday wishes to the community, emphasizing gratitude for the many blessings of the year.

During the latest Bossier City Council meeting, the council approved the Mayor’s 2025 budget, which includes raises for all city employees. Mayor Chandler described the raises as “well-deserved and long overdue,” acknowledging the hard work and dedication of city staff.

“I’m proud to have fulfilled one of my major campaign promises — addressing employee pay,” Mayor Chandler said. The raises have left city employees feeling “thankful,” especially during this season of reflection and appreciation.

Two key events marked the week of Thanksgiving in Bossier City.

The Mayor’s Prayer Lunch, held earlier in the week, brought together community members for prayer, fellowship, and a shared meal. Pastor Justin Haigler of The Simple Church served as the guest speaker, delivering an engaging, spiritual, and uplifting message that left attendees feeling “thankful and refreshed.” Music for the event was provided by Sammy Halphen.

Mayor Chandler emphasized the importance of the monthly prayer gatherings, stating, “The strength and direction needed to lead can only come from prayer.” He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the tradition.

Later in the week, city employees gathered at City Hall for their annual Friendsgiving celebration. The event offered an opportunity for fellowship and reflection on the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Mayor Chandler expressed his gratitude to city employees, stating, “Not one of you is taken for granted. Your time, effort, hard work, and service to our citizens are appreciated with gratitude.”

Mayor Chandler concluded the week with a heartfelt Thanksgiving greeting to city employees and residents alike:
“During this season, don’t just count your blessings — make your blessings count. May your blessings be multiplied, not only at Thanksgiving but throughout the year. Enjoy your holiday and your family. Happy Thanksgiving!”

He extended his wishes for a safe and blessed holiday season to all citizens of Bossier City, urging everyone to take time to slow down and reflect on the things they are thankful for.
