The Bossier Parish Police Jury approved a zoning change for a proposed firearms and ammunition shop and a related commercial subdivision plat during its Oct. 7 meeting.
The rezoning allows a 0.520-acre tract associated with Bossier Property Group, LLC to change from B-1, Business/Commercial Office, to B-2, Limited Business. The property is south of Vanceville Road, west of the existing Black Stag office building, near Benton Road.
Jurors separately approved the plat of Black Stag Commercial Subdivision, Unit 1, a 2.093-acre resubdivision in Police Jury District 6.
The planning documents describe three commercial lots: a future commercial-development site, a lot containing the existing Black Stag building, and the proposed firearms-shop lot. A conceptual plan for the shop describes an approximately 4,000-square-foot building and about 25 parking spaces.
Discussion also addressed drainage, road access and potential future development. Parish Engineer Eric Hudson said an existing road section would require a separate action to enter the parish road system.
The discussion outlined a possible future southward extension of Copenhagen Drive to create additional building sites, with development proceeding incrementally.
The approvals clear zoning and subdivision steps. An opening date and the proposed shop’s operating name were not announced during the hearing.
