Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy Welcomes New Recruits

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy (BPSTA) kicked off its 32nd class on Friday, initiating a rigorous 16-week program for 29 new recruits. Representing seven law enforcement agencies from the region, these individuals have embarked on their journey to become certified law enforcement officers.

Recruits from the Bossier Sheriff’s Office, Bossier City Police Department, Bossier Parish Police Jury Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, Northwestern State University Police Department, Minden Police Department, and Haughton Police Department will undergo extensive training. The curriculum covers a wide range of essential skills, including officer survival, active shooter response, officer down scenarios, and weapons qualifications.

Additionally, the recruits will receive education in physical fitness, chemical weapons, legal issues, defensive tactics, and driving. Training will also emphasize the importance of diversity, professionalism, and other critical topics in modern law enforcement.

This class marks the second academy session this year at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy, highlighting the ongoing commitment to preparing well-rounded officers equipped to handle the challenges of law enforcement today.
