Members of the Bossier Lions Club heard from Bossier Parish Community College Chancellor Dr. Rick Bateman during the club’s Thursday, May 28 meeting, where he discussed the college’s educational programs, workforce training opportunities and continued growth throughout the region.
Bateman spoke to attendees about the important role BPCC plays in preparing students for both college transfer programs and careers in high-demand industries across northwest Louisiana.
During his presentation, Bateman highlighted the variety of academic and technical programs offered at the college, including healthcare, information technology, business, manufacturing and skilled trades. He also discussed the college’s partnerships with local industries and businesses aimed at helping students transition directly into the workforce.
Bateman emphasized BPCC’s commitment to affordable education and workforce development, noting the growing demand for career and technical training programs throughout the state.
He also shared updates on student enrollment, campus improvements and the college’s efforts to expand opportunities for both traditional students and adult learners seeking career advancement or retraining.
Club members heard about BPCC’s dual enrollment opportunities for high school students, online learning options and continuing education programs designed to meet the needs of the community and local employers.
Following the presentation, attendees participated in a question-and-answer session covering topics such as workforce shortages, student success initiatives and the future of higher education in Louisiana.
