The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program’s production of the perennial Agatha Christie mystery, The Mousetrap, was honored with awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Both students and faculty were included in this honor.
Each year, KCACTF invites almost 18,000 students from institutions across the country to highlight their theatrical performances, share original work or adaptations of other theatrical performances, and vie for scholarship awards. BPCC Theatre is in Region VI, one of KCACTF’s eight regions, which includes two-and four-year colleges in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
For acting, two BPCC theatre students were named Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Nominees for 2024-25. Brody Hines was recognized for his performance as Christopher Wren, and Ja’Siah Jackson was selected for his turn as Detective Sergeant Trotter. These students and their chosen acting partners will continue in the scholarship competition at the Regional KCACTF conference in Abilene, Texas in February 2025.
Also, the KCACTF presented four Meritorious Awards for Excellence to the production. Student Lexi Rhodes was chosen for Stage Management. Additionally, three of BPCC’s Theatre Program leaders were recognized: David White, Technical Coordinator, for Scenic Design; Rona Leber, Professor, for Costume Design; and Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, Professor and Theatre Program Director, for Production Direction.

BPCC Theatre stands as Louisiana’s exclusive two-year theatre program, providing a comprehensive array of educational pathways. It offers three distinct Associate of Arts degree concentrations: Musical Theatre, Theatre, and Music Production and Technology. Additionally, it extends a range of specialized Certificate of Technical Studies programs in acting, costume design, directing, lighting design, scene design, and theatre technology.
