The North Bossier Lunch Group met for its monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. The meeting was held at the Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning (BPSTIL) in Bossier City. The guest speaker for the meeting was Amy Washington, BPSTIL Principal. Washington discussed the many industry based certifications and college credit programs BPSTIL offers for Bossier Parish high school students. These programs include: Law Studies, Engineering, Firefighting, EMT/Emergency Medical Response, Welding, AgriScience, Culinary Arts and much more.

“My goal has always been to meet every child as soon as they walk through my door and to take them as high as they can go,” said Washington. “When choosing programs, we may have a program that’s here for two or three years and we realize we don’t need it because someone wants something else. Someone suggested that we needed a firefighter program. Then, two years later, we have a fire fighter program. Now they’re coming along saying that we need a law enforcement program. Well, guess what? We are working on it. We are working on how to graduate first responders. As long as we can prove there is a need, we are going to make the need into a program.”

“We have the only firefighter program for high school students in North Louisiana. It’s the second in the entire state,” added Washington.

Washington, is one of three principals in Bossier Parish who were chosen by the Bossier Parish School System as the 2024-2025 Principal Of The Year. Washington is the Bossier Parish High School Principal Of The Year for 2024-2025. Washington, along with the other two Bossier Parish principals chosen for 2024-2025 (elementary principal and middle school principal), will soon compete against principals from school districts throughout Louisiana for statewide Principal Of The Year honors. The statewide winner will be announced in July 2024 by the Louisiana Department of Education and will serve as Principal of the Year for the 2024-25 school year.

The North Bossier Lunch Group’s goal is to bring together men and women in the North Bossier community who want to stay informed and who want to make a difference in their community.

The vision for the luncheon is to help North Bossier business owners, stakeholders, community leaders and community partners network together in order to discuss the growth, development and business future of North Bossier and Bossier City.
