CHRISTUS Health awarded $300,000 in grants to six nonprofit organizations across northern Louisiana, investing in community-based programs to help improve the health and well-being of their communities.
Organizations were selected based on their efforts to address key community health concerns, including chronic disease management, health education, safe housing, food insecurity and mental health and wellness. The recipient organizations are:
- Community Renewal International
- Catholic Charities of North Louisiana
- Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana
- Martin Luther King Health Center
- Shreveport Green
- St. Luke’s Mobile Medical Ministry Inc.
CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System held a ceremony to recognize each recipient and awarded funds through the CHRISTUS Community Impact Fund (CHRISTUS Fund). This year, the fund will distribute a total of $3.56 million to organizations in communities served by CHRISTUS Health across Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and South America.
“At CHRISTUS Health, we believe meaningful community partnerships have the power to transform lives,” said Jessica Guerra, program manager for community development at CHRISTUS Health. “Through the CHRISTUS Fund, we are proud to support organizations that are extending hope, healing and essential resources to those who need them most while creating a lasting impact in the communities we serve.”
Lauren Jones, executive director of Shreveport Green, an organization focused on environmental sustainability, said the grant will support the Mobile Market initiative, which delivers locally grown produce directly to neighborhoods with limited access to grocery stores.
The produce, sourced from local farmers and Shreveport Green’s own urban farm, is sold at just a dollar per pound. The market also features cooking demonstrations and pop-up events designed to make healthy eating more accessible and engaging for residents.
“This funding will strengthen every part of our operation, from supporting local farmers and expanding access to fresh food through our mobile market to investing in the staff who help make it all happen,” Jones said.
Launched in 2011, the CHRISTUS Fund has invested over $29 million in the communities served by CHRISTUS Health. In 2025, CHRISTUS Health invested more than $490 million in the communities it serves through charity care and other community services.
