The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers split a doubleheader against LSU Eunice Saturday in Eunice.
BPCC won the first game 6-5 and lost the second 14-8.
LSUE is 19-4 and No. 9 in the NJCAA Division I rankings. BPCC is 16-12.
The first game was seven innings. The Cavaliers trailed 5-4 through six innings then scored two in the top of the seventh.
Riley Kwak got things going with a one-out double. Gianluca Montanaro’s triple tied the game. Former Benton star Bryson Pierce brought the go-ahead run home with a sacrifice fly.
Montanaro went 3-for-4 with a two RBI. He hit a solo home run in the fifth.
Hayden LeBleu and James Reina hit solo home runs in the the third as the Cavs battled back from a 5-0 deficit.
LeBleu went 2-for-3 and also had a double. Haden Peshoff went 2-for-4. Pierce drew two walks.
Jackson Reifel pitched a complete game. He gave up eight hits but only three after the first two innings.
The second game was nine innings. BPCC trailed 4-3 after five. LSUE scored three in the sixth. The Cavs cut the deficit to 7-5 with two in the seventh. But the Bengals answered with three in the bottom of the inning.
BPCC scored two in the eighth to get within 10-7. LSUE answered again with four.
Reina went 2-for-2 with a home run, double and three RBI. Montanaro went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
Cameron Stutes went 2-for-2. Jacob Poletto went 2-for-4. Mason Sanders had a double. Peshoff had two RBI.
LSUE hit three home runs.
BPCC visits UA Rich Mountain Tuesday at 1 p.m.
