College baseball: LSU hammers No. 3 Kentucky in SEC Tournament

No. 11 seed LSU hammered No. 3 Kentucky 11-0 in eight innings Wednesday morning in the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.

The game marked the start of the double-elimination portion of the tournament for the Tigers.

LSU (38-20) will play No. 10 South Carolina, which upset No. 2 seed Arkansas 6-5, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kentucky, the SEC regular-season co-champion, dropped to 39-13.

Former Airline standout Hayden Travinski was one of four Tigers to hit home runs. He had a solo shot.

Jared Jones and Tommy White both hit grand slams. Jones’ came in the seventh inning and gave the Tigers a 6-0 lead. Travinski then made it 7-0 with his 15th home run of the season.

White’s came in the eighth and pushed the lead to 11-1.

Michael Braswell III led off the game with a home run.

LSU got a masterful performance from starter Luke Holman (9-3), who didn’t allow a hit, walked two and struck out seven in his six innings on the mound.
