NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State football team will become very familiar with the Midwest in 2025.

The Demons announced a pair of 2025 games Wednesday – both of which will see Northwestern State travel to the Midwest to face a pair of autonomous conference opponents.

The Demons will travel to Minnesota to face the Golden Gophers on Sept. 6, 2025. The matchup will be the Demons’ first against a Power Four conference member since facing eventual national champion LSU in 2019. It will be the first matchup for NSU against a member of the Big Ten Conference.

One week later on Sept. 13, Northwestern State travels to face Big 12 member Cincinnati for the first time since the 2013 season and the third time in program history.

The matchups will mark the Demons second and third trips to the Midwest in a four-season span, following a 2022 visit to Eastern Illinois.

“This will be both a tremendously challenging stretch and a special opportunity for our program as we take it somewhere we have never been,” Director of Athletics Kevin Bostian said. “An integral part of being a student-athlete is having the ability to experience new adventures. These two games in the 2025 season check those boxes and will give our student-athletes, staff and fans a chance to do just that.”

Ticket information for the games will be made available in the future.
