David Raines Community Health Centers (DRCHC) officially marked the grand opening of its newest School-Based Health Center at Rusheon Middle School on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The event took place at 2401 Old Minden Road in Bossier City and featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a guided tour of the newly established facility.
The clinic is part of DRCHC’s ongoing mission to expand access to quality healthcare for students and families across the region. With the addition of the Rusheon Middle School clinic, DRCHC now operates 17 school-based health centers throughout Caddo and Bossier parishes.
As a federally qualified health center, DRCHC has served Northwest Louisiana for over 50 years, providing care to underserved, low-income, and insured residents. The new clinic represents a significant step toward addressing healthcare access gaps, particularly for students who may face barriers to receiving routine medical attention.
The Rusheon Middle School clinic offers a wide range of services, including primary and preventive care, immunizations, sick visits, physical exams, and behavioral health support. These services are designed to minimize disruptions to education and work by allowing students to receive necessary care without their parents needing to take time off from their jobs.
Located in a Title I school, the clinic is part of a broader strategy to serve communities where families often experience financial hardship. The initiative reflects DRCHC’s commitment to supporting health equity and educational success by removing barriers to care for children and their families.
The opening celebration welcomed community members, school officials, and healthcare professionals who toured the facility and learned more about the center’s role in promoting student wellness and academic readiness.
