State leaders joined local business and community members Tuesday, September 30, as the Bossier Chamber of Commerce hosted Senate President Cameron Henry and Speaker of the House Phillip DeVillier for its ongoing Public Policy Series.

The luncheon, held at Silver Star Smokehouse, featured updates from Henry, DeVillier, and several legislative committee chairs, covering issues shaping Louisiana’s future. Topics included crime, education, tax reform, budget priorities, transportation infrastructure, and insurance – all areas with direct impact on businesses and residents across the state.

The event provided attendees with insight into how the Louisiana Legislature is addressing challenges and opportunities for growth. Chamber leaders emphasized that the series is designed to connect members with policymakers, ensuring local voices are heard on key issues.

“We’re grateful to the Senate President and Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives for coming to Bossier City and speaking directly to our local business community,” said Lisa Johnson, President/CEO of the Bossier Chamber. “As we hear about the changes and plans in our state government, it’s important that we work hard to do our part on a local level.”

This was the second installment in the Chamber’s Public Policy Series, which began September 24 with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson. That kickoff event included a Q&A session and updates from Washington.

The Chamber has lined up additional speakers throughout October:

October 15: Louisiana State of Fiscal Landscape with Secretary of Revenue Richard Nelson

October 20: Leaders for a Better Louisiana with Adam Knapp, CEO of Leaders for a Better Louisiana

October 27: State of Workforce & Economic Development with Secretary Susana Schowen and Tedra Cheatham, CEcD, Executive Director of LED Fast Start

The Public Policy Series is presented by Willis Knighton Health, with additional support from Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Expand Energy, Ochsner LSU Health, and Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Homes.
