The Benton Tigers, Haughton Bucs and Bossier Bearkats won district games Tuesday.
Benton defeated Captain Shreve 17-6 in the first of a two-game District 1-5A series at Benton. Haughton downed Parkway 17-0 in the first of a two-game 1-5A series at Haughton. Bossier edged Booker T. Washington 9-8 in the first of a two-game 1-4A series at home.
Elsewhere, Airline fell to Natchitoches Central 2-0 in the first game of their series at Natchitoches Central. In a District 1-B game, Providence Classical Academy lost to Weston 15-0 at Weston.
Defending champion Benton (16-2-2, 5-0) continues to lead 1-5A. Natchitoches Central (16-5, 5-1) is second followed by Airline (9-10, 4-2), Haughton (12-8, 3-2) Captain Shreve (13-8, 3-3), Evangel Christian (11-5, 3-3), Byrd (6-14, 2-5) and Parkway (5-12, 0-5).
At Benton, the Tigers had 19 hits. Hayden Millen went 4-for-4 with a double. Kannon Greer went 3-for-4.
Harrison Miller went 2-for-3 with a double and five RBI. Cole Snell went 2-for-4 with a double.
Case Jorden had two hits, including a triple, and two RBI. Bud Burns and Jake Hutchison had two hits each. Brody Turnipseed had three RBI.
Bryson Gates allowed just one hit with two strikeouts and no walks in 3 1/3 innings of relief.
The Tigers and Gators are scheduled to complete the series Thursday at 6 at Captain Shreve.
At Haughton, the Bucs had 13 hits in the three-inning game. Maddox Williams went 3-for-3 with two doubles.
Russ Barrett and Troy Fielding both went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Seth Jorstad went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Aubrey Ramsey had three RBI and Seth Breen two.
Jorstad allowed one hit and struck out three.
The Bucs and Panthers are scheduled to complete the series Thursday at Parkway at 6.
At Natchitoches Central, the game was a pitchers’ duel.
The Chiefs’ Daygen Johnson pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks.
Airline starter Jack Henry Smith allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked two in 5 1/3 innings.
Natchitoches Central scored a run in the third with two outs. Errors helped the Chiefs get their second run in the sixth.
The Vikings and Chiefs are scheduled to complete the series Thursday at 5 at Airline.
At Bossier, the Bearkats led 8-1 through four innings in the five-inning game. BTW tied it with seven in the top of the fifth, but the Bearkats won it in in the bottom of the inning on a single by Jaylen James that scored Jayson Resendez.
Bradley Simmons went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Starting pitcher Jorge Taylor struck out seven and walked three.
Bossier (3-7) and BTW (1-6) are scheduled to complete the series Thursday at Bossier’s home field.
At Weston, PCA dropped to 4-10. Weston improved to 13-6. PCA visits Huntington Friday for a doubleheader at 4:30.
