The Benton Lady Tigers and Haughton Lady Bucs won District 1-5A games Friday.
Defending champion Benton defeated Parkway 13-4 at Parkway and Haughton defeated Evangel Christian 15-4 at Haughton.
In a non-district game, Airline defeated Stanley 5-0 at Airline.
In a District 1-1A game, Plain Dealing lost to Glenbrook 19-0 in Minden.
At Parkway, Benton’s Emma Holmes went 3-for-5 with two doubles. Olivia Livers went 3-for-5 with a double. Makalyn Lawrence went 3-for-4.
Maggie Landman had a home run, double and three RBI. Lainey Lafitte had two hits, including a double. KP Tasby and Maddy York had one double each.
Bayleigh Moniz struck out nine and walked none in 5 2/3 innings.
Parkway’s Addison McCall went 3-for-3 with a double. Madison Menard went 2-for-4.
Macee Thompson hit a solo home run. Katie Giovengo had a double.
Benton (8-11, 3-0) hosts Natchitoches Central (14-3, 3-0) with sole possession of the district lead on the line Thursday at 5. Parkway (8-7, 0-2) visits Airline at 6.
At Haughton, winning pitcher Charlee Prothro went 4-for-4 with two home runs and nine RBI. She hit a three-run homer in the first and a grand slam in the second.
Brianna Benecke went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Presley Yerby went 2-for-4. Reese Mayfield and Avery Smith had one double each.
Prothro went four innings. Kallie Sanderlin pitched a scoreless fifth.
Haughton (8-9, 2-1) visits Byrd Thursday at 6. Evangel dropped to 7-8 and 2-1.
At Airline, Taylor Smith pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and four walks. She also had a double and two RBI. Tanesciya Thomas had a double and two RBI.
Airline improved to 7-5. Stanley, which had a seven-game winning streak snapped, dropped to 14-3.
At Glenbrook, Plain Dealing dropped to 8-1 and 1-1. Glenbrook improved to 12-3 and 2-0. The Lady Lions host Homer Thursday at 6.
