Benton senior Cole Snell has been named Hitter of the Year on the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-Region I team.
Snell, a pitcher and outfielder, batted 440 with 15 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 48 RBI.
Players are nominated by their coaches. Region I consists of teams in Northwest Louisiana parishes.
Benton senior infielder Brody Turnipseed and junior outfielder Hayden Millen also made the team. Turnipseed batted .421 with 11 doubles, one triple and 32 RBI. Millen batted .484 with 5 doubles, two triples and 21 RBI.
Six other players from parish teams were selected.
They were Airline senior pitchers Leo Heng and Drew Robinson and senior utility Jack Henry Smith, and Haughton senior outfielder Seth Jorstad, sophomore infielder Maddox Williams and junior outfielder Russ Barrett.
Heng was 5-3 with a 2.21 ERA. He had 40 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings. Robinson was 3-2 with eight saves and a 0.81 ERA in 26 innings.
Smith, a pitcher outfielder and infielder, batted .343 with seven doubles and 14 RBI. He had a 2.41 ERA in 49 2/3 innings.
Jorstad batted .357 with 11 doubles, six triples and 26 RBI. Williams batted .346 with nine doubles, four triples, three home runs and 28 RBI.
Barrett batted .333 with 12 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 31 RBI.
