High school baseball: Haughton notches two victories; Benton, St. Louis Catholic split doubleheader

The Haughton Bucs swept two home games Saturday on the final day of the Northwood tournament.

Haughton defeated St. Frederick 3-2 and Mangham 13-7.

Elsewhere, Benton suffered its first loss, falling to St. Louis Catholic 4-2 in the first game of a doubleheader in Lake Charles. The Tigers bounced back with a 5-0 victory in the second game.

Parkway fell to Brusly 6-0 in the Eunice tournament.

At Haughton, Seth Jorstad went 3-for-4 with two RBI, including the game-winning one. Christian Turner went 2-for-3 and had four stolen bases. 

Starter Landon Rolland allowed just one run in 5 1/3 innings. Jorstad got the win in relief.

Parker Presley went 2-for-2 with two RBI against Mangham. Jorstad went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Seth Breen had two hits and two RBI. Rolland, Justin Adkinson and Jameson Voigt had two hits apiece. Carson Planned got the win.

Haugton improved to 8-3.

At St. Louis Catholic, Griffin Sibley had both of Benton’s hits, including a double in the first game. 

Kade Bryant pitched a two-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks in the second game.

Cole Snell went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Sibley and Jackson Jones had two hits each.

Benton is 12-1.

At Eunice, Maddox Cockerham went 2-for-3 against Brusly. Dakota Armour had a double.

Kamron Blackshire didn’t give up a hit or walk in five innings of relief. He struck out four.

Parkway dropped to 3-6.
