High school boys basketball: Airline, Parkway win 1-5A games

After a week off because of the winter weather and cancellation of school, several parish teams were back in action in makeup games Monday night.

The Airline Vikings and Parkway Panthers won District 1-5A games. Parkway defeated Byrd 63-44 at Parkway and Airline downed Haughton 81-44 at Airline.

In the other 1-5A games, Benton fell to Natchitoches Central 63-36 at Benton and Huntington routed Captain Shreve 81-50 at Huntington.

Natchitoches Central (19-2, 4-0) leads the District. Huntington (14-6, 3-0) is one-half game back in second. Airline (12-10, 3-1) and Captain Shreve (14-8, 3-1) are one game back.

Elsewhere, Providence Classical Academy fell to Simsboro 79-64 at PCA.

At Airline, Jerrius Rhodes and Kevin White led 12 Vikings who scored with 16 points each. Rylon Bailey added 10 points.

Airline hosts Huntington in another makeup game Wednesday.

Hunter Lippolis and James Alexander led Haughton (9-11, 0-3) with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

At Parkway, Antonio Gladney had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Kaleb Williams scored 20 points to go with eight assists and four steals. Parkway (10-9, 1-2) hosts Haughton Wednesday in another makeup game.

At Benton, the Tigers dropped to 9-11 and 0-3. Natchitoches Central has won 14 in a row.
